Chad or Bill,
I recently bought an NOS mirror from DC that was described as C9AB 17743 A
Can you guys give me any info on this mirror? What I'm trying to find out is if there is a (right) passenger side equivalent to this mirror.
Chad got mad, and took his ball home for good - or so he says. But he has snuck back a couple times, I noticed.
Bill has pretty much had it as well, though he comes back around occasionally. He always is careful to remind us that DC is famous for just pulling numbers out of their -well, you know what. They often have no basis in reality. If stamped in originally, they are not the actual part number, but rather an engineering i.d. I believe .

Maybe post a photo, and someone can help?
Yeah, I’m an ex Ford employee. I know about the engineering numbers.
I’ll try to get some pics up tomorrow.
Thanks for the response 👍🏻
I didn't get mad, I got a new job and don't have much time on here these days to help.
In this case 17743 is the base number of a mirror 'arm', not a mirror head (17723) or a kit (17696). That full number given in the first post is also not in the MPC so not sure where they got that number from at all. Usually DC doesn't make up numbers for their NOS parts, only the parts that they make themselves.
Here's an example of an arm. I saw a chrome mirror arm that had broken in another post, the 5" round mirror arm broke where it passes through the door.
I believe DC sells both left and right mirrors and they say Ford on them, I guess. I think your number is from the driver side round mirror. Anyways, I am getting a mirror head and whole mirror for PS next week, and I will try to explain my experience. I have a base for a round Ford mirror I got off CL--- thinking I scored something,---- but I guess a lot of mirrors say Ford and are made with Ford’s permission or something.
I see someone said, I do not even need to remove anything from the door for access to install the round mirrors, cool.
Someone liberated my old mirrors a while back out of a parking lot where I worked and did some collateral damage, ugly. The mirrors were Ford rectangle stock mirrors for a small camper that came with the truck, new, I guess. This time I am going with the round ones.
Possibly 1969 Galaxie?
Found an NOS one on eBay. The seller says c9az-17696-b
Is there a passenger side equivalent for this mirror.
Item # 373239333364
I have the 1965-72 Ford Car MPC and it doesn't look like there was one offered for the passengers side. On eBay I did find someone selling a used pair but they don't match each other like I would expect. The drivers side has rounded corners like the other one you posted from eBay while the passengers side has more squared off corners.
