Keystone alpine

Anyone out there have a 20-22 alpine with a tankless water heater? Have a question that no one can answer

Winterizing the heater, there is no way to get to the rear water lines. I opened the bypass and some water drained out then ran antifreeze thru till started running out the drain tube then shut off. I know even though it's tankless there is a half gallon tank in there. By running roughly a gallon thru I'm guessing that's good enough.

Why not blow it out? Then you get everything out and dont have to worry about cleaning out the rv antifreeze every spring.

I could have and will in the future, I'm just worried about that expansion tank in there. That's why I ran so much thru in hopes of getting some in there. The way keystone put it in there is zero way to get to rear drain

How do you like your keystone?

We are looking to upgrade to a fifth wheel and are coming from a Forest River that we were very happy with.

Thanks,

Bob

does the tank still have a anode rod? If so take that out and the water should drain to a safe level.

I by pass my heater, take the anode rod out and when the water no longer comes out, I put it back in.

I do not allow the anti freeze in the hot water heater tank.

The OP specifically mentioned a tankless water heater. No conventional tank, no anode rod...

First step for me is to check YouTube since several water heater manufacturers cover this topic there and there are several different ways to do it. Another thing I keep encouraging folks to do is call your manufacturer customer service and just ask. Some of those folks are great and if I think the answer is a little iffy, I ask to talk to someone further up the chain. You may not believe it, but there is load of information and even some of the emails response almost immediately. Think about it. Don't you like being the expert? They do too! Light years ahead of how it use to be. As a general rule, it is best to keep antifreeze out of water heaters and some manufacturers specifically say not to do it.

Using an air compressor is a common means of clearing systems and I think some folks would be surprised how little air pressure it takes to blow water out. I used to carry a ratty little compressor with me that could barely hit 20 PSI on a good day and I used that for years with never a problem.
