Just got a 2001 Ford F-450 stake body with a 7.3 diesel -- what must be done to add to fuel now getting cold---must it be plugged in at night--NEW to a 7.3 Diesel but truck was a 1 owner and great condition and had to settle for the engine--
So what should I be doing to engine for maintenance over Gas engine-- Thanks
I dont add anything to mine, I just plug it in over night when it get super cold over. As far as maintenance, change the oil and fuel filter, should be good to go.
Here in NE Wisconsin, I just make sure that any fuel purchased from November to April is winterized. Use a DIESEL FUEL anti-gel additive if you suspect the fuel quality.
Plugging in your block heater helps, but anything more than 4 hours is wasting electricity. If you need to leave at 8AM have the heater set up on a timer to start at 4AM.
