What is typical "Transmission range sensor voltage" using AE?

Chasing an "starting in high gear problem" I got the AE program and turned on every sensor related to transmissions. This appears to show the valid range is zero to 5V but reads 1.61 volts when it is present. It is not always present in every gear shift position. Does anyone know what normal voltage is and if it is present in every gear position?

You're chasing the wrong thing. The TRS cannot cause starting in high gear. That is caused by the shift solenoids not getting 12 volts.

I checked that 3-4 weeks ago. Pins 1 & 12 on the solenoid pack connector both had 12 volts. There is no grounds other than what the PCM supplies to each solenoid as I read it. Unless the 12 V is some kind of week/ no current supply. I will test it with a bulb to affirm it actually can supply some current.

I went out tonight and unplugged the trans connector to the solenoid pack, turned the key on and used a test light on pins 1 & 12. This affirms power and current flow when lighting the bulb. I also measured again and had standing static DC volts of 12.3V. I guess next step is to check the supplied signal from the PCM at the connector pin for Shift solenoid1 is truly a ground with key on and plug unplugged.

Pushing a probe into the end of the connector can spread the pins, creating a problem where you didn't have one before. Hopefully you didn't spread any of them,

the probe is pretty big, I just had to lay it in the opening.

Check for resistance from the power pin to the ground pin for each solenoid on the transmission side. This will check the transmission for good electronic circuits to the shift solenoids.
