Hello, I have a FHP3 PCM and it is DPC-432 and the hex code in the chart is VNAA8K8. I was going to see what other programs were offered on the power hungry app for my hydra. But the VNAA8K8 only had a few tunes. Is there another HEX code I can use that might have a few more tunes to choose from? I currently have tunes from a specialty tuner but the codes make the engine idle a little higher in the daily driver and tow tunes and the pedal is really sensitive. What I mean by that it i have to be really careful at takeoff to barely push down on the pedal or it takes off. My wife can't even drive it, so I turn it back to stock Im looking for a something not as jumpy, maybe a lower HP daily driver. Also, I have 410 gears and 35s and basically stock truck (AIS intake and 4 inch exhaust). One other thing is the custom tunes make the tranny lock up weird/early and won't downshift well and acts a little jerky. My concern is the extra wear and tear and on stock tranny. Thanks for any help with understanding different hex codes that I can try.
One quick question, what is the difference with cold wtr (my code for reference - 2000 FHP3 9DTA-BKC DPC-432 XC3F-DF 7.3L F-250/350 - AUTO CAL COLD WTR VNAA8K8) and the code your referenced that does not have the cold wtr reference (code for reference - 2001 PMT1 1F719S0A05 DPC-422 1C3F-ZB 7.3L F-250/350 - AUTO 49S VRAA6S3). I see the term cold wtr and warm wtr in the code table. Was just curious what this terms mean and do I need a cold wtr compatible code or is the VRAA6S3 a generic 49S code and not an issue.
Thanks, just trying to understand the hex code terms.
Back before 2001, Ford thought that they'd make different calibrations for different climates...thus leaving things like backpressure valve controls and automatic high idle programming out of the calibrations for whatever reason.
The VRAA6S3 has these natively like your FHP3. 49-State just denotes that it's not a California-fied one. Your FHP3 will have the two-bank monitoring for the glow plugs vs. the one monitor for all but the PCM won't know the difference.
