I've been trying to research putting a supercharger on a 4.0 OHV. It seems that once upon a time there were a few different kits available? I've seen a Paxton kit mentioned, Eaton, BKK, Explorer Express, etc. But it seems that none of these companies that had kits are around anymore. I don't even see anything posted used... anywhere! The only thing I see are kits for the 4.0 SOHC. Yes, I know I could do a V8 swap, but I kind of like the idea of a supercharged 4.0. Anyone know of any resources or places to look?
No luck yet in finding one for the OHV. I don't have the machine equipment or skills to fab the brackets required.
I did find a complete 4.0 with a supercharger from a 2004 Ranger. How much work is it putting a 2004 into a 1994? If I have to change transmissions, motor mounts, exhaust, computer, etc., I might as well do the 5.0. But if it only requires some minor modifications, would be interested.
If I found a complete 5.0 local, I would consider. To purchase all the components separate, or even a junkyard one that needs complete rebuild, would be a bit of an expense right now. I just want a little more get up and go without a massive undertaking!
