79 F250 mirrors

Does anyone know where to find replacement door mirrors? Have looked at Lmc, dennis carpenter, and ebay.

Hey Rich since your talking mirrors, Do you have a part number for the #9 in Black? I saw them on a few trucks back in the day. Want to try to source some for my restoration. If I ever get back to it? LOL

I just noticed that was a dealer installed number. The black ones were from the factory I think?

All I have and it shows only the stainless, but I know they make then in black (plastic mirror body) type 9. I have a set off a 79 Bronco XLT.
Or maybe the (black Sport mirrors?) D8TZ 17723B painted.

I was around when they were new and I never saw any black ones. they're stainless so painting them would cost money not save it so there was no incentive to sell black mirrors.

Well taking that into consideration, I have a set of large body (6X9) type 9's off a 79 Bronco and they are as OEM as ever and do not look "painted". Now I have to go up to the parts shed and dig them out and take a pic and look for a FORD stamp. I am 98% sure they are plastic and not painted stainless bodied. BRB

They did make them in black and they were plastic. The originals on my 79 had them until they broke years ago. I checked all the sites and called the dealers a few were closed but no one had them. If anyone has a set or even just the arms id be interested in them.

The arms are for sure just painted black, the set I have are very faded and look to be standard type 9 arms.

Thanks, one of our friends back in the day had black ones on his truck. I didn't know they were plastic. I'll figure something out by the time I get down to the mirrors.

I think the stainless 6X9 would be more durable and seems easier to locate.

I’ve never tried it nor have I seen the results but Caswell Plating sells a stainless blackener solution.

It’s expensive and I wouldn’t try it on a good mirror without testing first.

Eastwood may have something similar.
