Hello everyone,
Does anyone know what material the valve covers are made from? I have a crack in mine and would like to repair vs replace. I have the old style before Ford decided to make it a PITA to change vct solenoids. I'm looking to Tig weld or braise them but unsure if they are cast aluminum or magnesium. Thanks for your help!
Depending on the location of crack, clean it to metal, roughen the surface, then trowel some J B Weld over the crack. If trying to make it stronger, no good. If just trying to stop a leak in a non stressed area, it'll work.

I would try this first.
I've actually done this on my old '86 Dodge truck; it had steel valve covers, but JB Weld will work on alloys also.
