1996 F150 and Broncos were OBD-II MAF for all the available engines (4.9L, 5L and 5.8L) in 1996. Add in the F250 Light Duty if it existed in that model year.
I want to sincerely thank ya'll for the input. Overall this swap went very smooth. This is my buddy's truck; I helped him drop the JY engine in on Saturday. This being a low-budget fix with a necessarily short timeframe, we were glad to have the exact year F150 engine to swap over. We left all the manifolds alone and kept the JY harness and fuel injectors. We swapped over spark plugs since the blown engine had new ones in it. Otherwise, we pulled the oil pan on the JY engine and inspected for major problems. All the cylinder walls looked visually good, and so did the cam lobes. Nothing obviously troubling. We threw on a new oil pan gasket and dropped it in.
My buddy got finished with accessories and transmission mounted up last night. The JY engine cranked right up and ran reasonably smooth! Idle was very high, about 1500 RPM, I'm thinking due to vacuum leaks, at least in part. As I mentioned, we broke the nipple on the vapor management valve, and all the vacuum tubing is in pretty bad shape generally. What else should we check as far as resolving the high idle? I'll see if he can post up a video for yall.
Scndsin, I think there was some extra TB ducting. I'll check on it.

Honestly, until you get it all buttoned up, and can let it run long enough to get up to operating temp, it's hard to say anything about why it's got a high idle. The Cold Start Enrichment will bump it up to the 1500rpm range when it's on the first cold start of the day, so it might be absolutely fine. Just make sure you hook up all the vacuum stuff, and get it to run long enough to open the thermostat, to see if it comes down on it's own. (It actually shouldn't take even that long, for the ECT to start reading coolant temp, and lower the idle, but it can depend.)
