I’m trying to find some answers or at least places to look to solve this issue. For some reason when you are just cruising and lightly on the throttle the tranny drops a gear then immediately goes back up. It will keep repeating it till I change the throttle. On the throttle a good amount it drives fine. Off the throttle no issue. It’s only when the throttle is at a cruising pressure. Sometimes when it drops a gear it won’t find it and will be in neutral and just keep revving up. I already replace the MLPS and changed to the new connector. Tested TPS and it checks out. The speedo is a different problem. On the throttle it stays at 0. Off the throttle it bounces within a few miles of its actual speed. Semi throttle and it bounces all over the place. I took it out and cleaned it and no change. I took off the shift solenoid connector and it looks like it had water in it somehow. Cleaned it and no change as well. I’ve tried to do the EEC but it doesn’t work. I put in the jumper wire like how it shows on every post about it. My truck does not have a CEL so I’m using the volt meter way. I don’t have one so I’m using a test light. I get no light blinks in either of the modes(KOEO and KOER). I tested for continuity between the terminals just to make sure wires weren’t loose and it was good. Any advice or ideas to fix my issue or to look at any would be much appreciated. I’m getting to the point of selling it because I’m lost and don’t know what to do.
Speedometer definitely needs to be worked out. The auto transmission input speed for shifting comes from the speedometer. So that will need to be figured first before doing anything else. I'd check the abs sensor first in the rear differential and make sure it's clean of crud. If it's dirty, or it's due for a fluid change, go in and clean it out. While doing it check for broken teeth which can be a cause of bouncy speedo. Make sure you get all the grime out! I think the rough shifting is a result of a bad sensor.
One other option is to buy a stand alone transmission controller, there pricey but they circumvent all the extra inputs that ford uses. I had an E40D that would shift back and forth with the left turn signal only not the right. Another that would quit for no reason, coast to the side of the road, put it in park then drive and it would be fine for a mile or the rest of the day. As these trucks age the wiring is usually the main problem with the transmission and the E40D has virtually zero self diagnostic.

Interesting, so it bypasses all the current sensors and is pretty a an all in on?
You can search them E40D transmission controller, I know some people that have them, basically it just needs to be wired into the throttle position and the vehicle speed sensor, you can program your shift points etc.
