While driving home from work today i noticed something unusual. It's 40 degrees here in Wisconsin. Was going 70mph for 45 minutes. Eot 199.Ect 190.4 when I turned my heat on in the truck Eot just kept slowly dropping by the time I hit the exit ramp about 10 minutes of Driving it had dropped to 190.is this normal for the eot to drop with heat on?eot and ect are normally within 8-11 degrees of each other .
Temps are within half a degree of each other after sitting over night .so I'd believe the sending units are good..that's what i thought about the heatercore as well.was just curious if anyone else has had that happen. Doubt it's hurting anything can't imagine it would
Thanks for the reply I'm using the torque pro app.i have it setup right.been using it all summer towing and everything. It was 34 degrees last night did the same thing .I thought it was very odd and shouldn't be happening.it wasn't as drastic of a temp fall this time it only dropped from 197 to 194.eot temp .the collant temp fluctuated 188.4 .190.4 .
I did a basic hand schematic of the 6.0 cooling system a while back, see below. The oil cooler is controlled in parallel with the engine block by the thermostat. The heater core is a separate loop that is not controlled by the thermostat. I could see under low ambient/low load conditions the oil temp dropping, especially if you have a clean oil cooler and EGR delete and can possibly get more flow than the stock configuration. However I would assume you'd see an accompanying ECT drop which kind of surprises me.
