Hello Gents,
Just got done replacing my flywheel, pressure plate, and clutch on my truck. I used all south bend parts and did the install myself. I also installed a remanufactured transmission as well.
When I had it all put together the transmission will not shift into gear with the engine on, it will shift with engine off. I then replaced the master/slave cylinder with a new one from Rock Auto. It was a pre bled system. That kinda helped but it is still super hard to shift into first, second, and reverse. I have preformed the heim joint mod and I am thinking of moving the lever closer to the firewall at clutch pedal to see if that gives me more throw for clutch to engage.
That is my only plan of attack. Do you guys have any other ideas, pointers, or suggestions?
As a followup I found out that the lever that connects the clutch pedal to the master cylinder throw rod seemed to be stripped a bit, this caused movement of clutch pedal without movement of throw rod. Ordered a new one and hopefully that does the trick.
It seems you have at least two different threads concerning the same topic. I suspect that was the reason for the "lack of replies" in this particular thread. Sometimes 7.3L OBS owners are able to utilize the 7.3L SD sub-forum for advice as it has more traffic. A lot of the same issues the OBS has the SD has and vice versa.
I am pleased to hear you may have figured it out and closed the loop.
