I’m reassembling the rear axle for my 49 F1 and noticed that the bearing protrudes from the end of the axle housing by about 0.06”. When I put the nuts on to secure the bearing grease cap, the cap flange does not sit flush against the axle flange. The gasket is all but useless since it isn’t pulled up tight when I tighten up the nuts except where the four bolts and nuts pull everything together. Is this normal and expected?
I had a major brain f@rt there...I don't believe I actually asked that question! Thats what happens when you focus too much and don't think.
