Good morning everyone, I just bought an 86 f250 2wd standard cab long bed from my buddy yesterday and would like to learn more about it. I'm curious to find out also what this is rated for towing as well. Any help will be much appreciated. Here's what I have on the door tag and vin:
Vin 1FTHF25H9GKB70383 Door Tag GVWR 8,600 Front axle GAWR 2,915 Rear axle GAWR 6,084 Exterior 1G Paint Colors Blank Type GVW F257 Body DG4 Trans F Axle 353 Tape Blank Spring C (Has an "A"to the far right next to it if that. means anything) DSO F0171 70158 17 I can't wait to find out more about it. I paid $1,000 for it and I think it's in fairly decent shape for it's age. I plan on slowing cleaning it up, fixing it up and enjoying being able to customize the truck the way I want

Thank you Franklin, I appreciate it. Would you know what this truck is rated to tow?
Here's a thread. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...-supercab.html You have axle code 353 which I think is really 35 which is a 4.10 ratio. You can check the tag on the rearend. If it is 4.10 ratio, your truck has a GCVWR of 12,500lbs. Subtract approx 5500lbs for the weight of the truck and you can tow a trailer around 7000lbs.

Thank you again Franklin for your help, I appreciate it. I wasn't sure what ratio I had because the tag is missing off the rear. I guess I could have jacked the rear and count how many rotations on the driveshaft. I just ordered a marti report to find all the options this thing has. I can't wait to start digging into it and getting it looking good again.
What is it you want to pull and how heavy is it loaded?

Dave, I don't really have anything in particular I'm going to tow, other than a 5x10 landscape trailer with a zero turn or mulch on a rare occasion which would only be 2,500lbs at the most. I was trying to see what it was rated for to see how much I could tow if need be. I'd like to find gooseneck/5th wheel and conventional tow ratings if I can. I'll probably throw a pair of monroe coil over shocks on the rear to help with towing anything heavy.
