Thank you very much.
Have to stop by a machine shop today and just wanted to make sure it would fit in back of my Jeep Cherokee..I thought it should but you know how that goes...

You're welcome.
I have found it very useful to have a small 2-wheel hand truck in my vehicle to move heads and blocks around easily. I made a small hand truck from luggage wheels and black pipe. It is only about 6 inches wide so it stows easily. Now I can move blocks without help and without jeopardizing my back.
You will have no problem fitting it in an XJ. A fully dressed 300 (fan and EFI intake included) fits nicely in the back of 1990s and early 2000s crossovers (before they all raised the trunk floor to fit the spare tire) and with difficulty in a station wagon or later model crossover (engine hoist to roof clearance being the only problem.

The blue hand truck from Harbor Freight does a good job moving a 300 long block. You can either strap them on with the bellhousing facing you and then jump on it to get it up on the wheels or, if you have wide enough door ways, remove the distributor and stick the driver's side on the dolly. A ratchet strap to hold whatever you're moving to the dolly is necessary for the sized objects we deal with in this hobby. Life would be so much easier if I was an 80s compact hatchback enthusiast.
