Guys - I have an '85 F150 4X4 with the 300 c.i. six and four speed manual. Recently bought it and have been going thru it, freshening things up.
The mid tank was a leaker and today I took it down, finding rust within the plastic front cover. Yuck! My question is, how do I disconnect this sender clip without breaking it?
Thanks!! Tom
I hate to say this but it will most likely break no matter how you try not to.
Just go easy lifting it and you may get lucky.
Good luck

Looks different than my sender connection. Yours probably has a catch on the opposite side of the wires. If you can't get an eyeball on it you might need to use a mechanic's mirror to see under the farside in your photo. Looks like lifting the tab on that side will clear the notch. But inspect first.

Same here on the looks but mine is a 81
Now that I am on my computer I dont really know how that comes apart
It almost looks like you lift that part on the far side and slide the connector off side ways?
IIRC mine is rubber and it lifes straight up but its been years since I messed with it.

I looked at several options on RockAuto. It would seem that gray piece lifts straight up from the tank. Not sure how it locks in place, though. It almost looks like it is a separate 90 degree adapter for the small black piece closest to the camera.

The female plug looks like a replacement with the wires going through those black plugs. My 86 was a total slip fit straight down with no clip holding it. Just a slight negative fit and gravity keeping it plugged in.
