Wish me luck

So I had just got my truck running really well hutch mod fixed my fuel pressure issue. So no more studder is I needed to put my foot into it. Fixed all of my boost leaks installed a new set off riff raff plenum inserts and boots. And then this weekend some undesirable member of society decided to steal my truck out of my driveway. It was just returned to me in not so great shape=(. It was driven hard.=( My freshly rebuild trans now has a tail shaft leak. My starter is fried looks like it damn near caught on fire. My current key is a screwdriver. And I now have what looks like rubber confetti sprinkled around the passenger side of the engine compartment. I'm not really sure where it came from belt looks OK harmonic balancer looks OK. I guess when I get the starter in it today I'll know more. So far it's cost me 600$ in tow and impound fees. Well see where it ends. Gonna upgrade to a comprehensive insurance policy so I don't get screwed. If someone wants to take it for another ride. Gonna install some new deterrents aswell cutoff switches forsure Jimmy jammers possibly. Almost figure leaving my doors unlocked would be best.

No apparently they stole it from my house, drove 30 min away, then tried to rip out an atm at a bank. They were unsuccessful. They found my truck abandoned at the bank. Police wouldn't give me much info learned all this from the tow truck driver.

Sounds like an ongoing investigation then. I think stealing an ATM is considered a bank robbery and is thus a federal crime. They will be going after these guys. Be sure to document your losses for when they find and charge the crooks.

I really hope they get them. I'd like to file for restitution. I only had liability coverage. So I had to pay all tow and storage fees literally 600 for less than 48hrs. Then not to mention whatever it takes to get it back right.

They can’t afford to pay restitution since the bank robbery was a failure…

Sorry to make silly jokes. Truly sorry for your situation and hope they lock those boogers up! Glad you were able to recover the truck.

Sorry for your trouble.

Regarding a kill switch, select a circuit that is NOT a starter kill. If the truck just clicks, the thief may take their time in silence to look around the truck. If the starter is going, but the truck will not start, the cranking starter is loud and will cause the thief to be in a hurry.

Something like a Cyclops or Hydra no start are good ideas, but they are easily defeated if the thief has time.

Good on you for not talking about getting revenge or payback. In today's age with the laws being the way they are, you could end up being the one in the defendant chair. Anything you put in the internet is there FOREVER, even if you delete it.

Go about it the legal way and do what you can to deter this from happening again.

I was going to say something about making it legal to take restitution out of a thief's hide if they can't afford it financially......

Lol don't worry I've had to find humor in the situation. My personal victory was that they failed and had to walk away on foot lol. Also I know they won't be able to pay but it'll make me feel better lol

Trust me... If I were king there would be no more thieves...

Although, I have fired a firearm during a burglary attempt and slept in my own bed that night because I was aware of what the law states. The investigators helped me find the casing and told me to have a good night and they would be in touch with updates.

Knowing your rights and what the law allows for is a very powerful tool to have in your arsenal.

And yes I was thinking multiple kill switches I know if they want to steal it they will I figure 1 for fuel pump 1 for pcm and one for starter all in different locations lol. I also set up a new surveillance system at the house and upgraded my insurance so I won't have to foot the bill again.

Lol at the sentry bots I feel that would be a bit much collateral. Almost like the 60,000 volt idea would be my luck I went to leave for work half asleep and took myself out
