i might sound like an idiot, but does the 1992 f-150 5.8 efi have 1 or 2 cats. i bought the truck with it dualed out and i thought the 2nd muffler/cat was a muffler, but after reading in here i'm not so sure. any help would be apreciated
I am not sure if its the same as other models, but I believe there are two units on the Y pipe, correct? That is actually a two piece cat. It is a precat, and then the actual cat. They do the work of one single catalytic convertor.
ok. well i feel like an idiot, i replaced the 2nd cat with a 40 series flowmaster. would i get any better performance cutting out the muffler or the other cat? and if i cut out the 1st cat how would i connect the pipes as it is a dual inlet cat?
To get the best, legal horsepower, as well as keep future generations to come with cleaner air, you should run a high flow catalytic convertor. Is it true duals (from each engine bank back) or duals behind the muffler? Do you have youre check engine light on?
