Oil in valley
Oil in valley
So in my 97 obs f350 I noticed oil puddling jn the front portion of the valley below my fuel bowl. This was noticed after I removed my turbo. There was no oil leading from the rear of the valley to the front that would indicate the oil coming from the turbo. Any other areas this oil could be leaking from? I was able to dip my finger to verify that it was in fact oil and not diesel. Any thoughts?
Oil in the valley can not come from the oil filter, as it is below the valley. Check the exhaust back pressure valve, if you still have it, as it wears the o rings and can leak from the actuator rod. The turbo mounting pedestal has o rings between it and the intake manifold, and it and the turbo itself that seals the oil passages to the turbo. The plugs in the oil galley are sealed with o rings that may be the source of oil in the valley.
Yeah I think I will be focusing on the the hpop areas. There are some o-rings that are prone to leaking. Will be doing some research on the hpop. What about the fuel pump leaking oil as it enters to the cam shaft? Is that a possible culprit?
I wouldn't think the fuel pump would be it. That's a very tight tolerance. Possible, but not likely.

Definitely oil? Not diesel? Make sure. Fuel bowl is very prone to leaks you won’t get rid if that until you switch to efuel. If it is oil, I’d check the hpop lines where they go into the heads or as mentioned ebpv and turbo pedestal o rings
Definitely oil. Im checking the HPOP now. The ebpv actuator opening was leaking a little but that oil traveled behind the motor and settled on top of the tranny. It was minimal. There was no oil path to the front of the valley from the rear (back) of the valley.
I pulled the fuel bowl out. And upon further inspection noticed a bit of oil around the reservoir and hpop connection and also a little from the circular seal with the snap ring retainer. So i will be pulling and resealing the hpop. Then pulling the plenums and resealing those. And then putting the fuel bowl back and pedestal/ turbo back but replacing the o rings first. One thing always leads to another. Lol
