56 Rear Window Rubber

Hello
I have been trying to install a new rear window and rubber in the 56 F100, not having much luck, I get to the top and the glass seems just to tight.
could someone please send me a picture of the proper rear window rubber orientation, and maybe some tips and tricks would be greatly appreciated .

Thanks guys
Ken

The back window is installed from the inside...so are you installing it that way or from the outside ?

Does the rubber fit onto the metal window lip? Or against it glued on ?
I seen LMC instructions- they say to put rubber on first, and I watched the Dennis Carpenter video and the guys put the rubber on the window first, which is what I had been trying todo, and from the inside.

It slips over the lip. I centered the seam on the bottom because I think it would look better.
it's a 2 man job and use lots of soapy water.
Another question...are you using the rope method ?

Looks like you have the rubber on the window. I'm assuming it is orientated the right way. If you have a glass sucker or suction cup that helps to hold the glass. It is a 2 person job. Make sure the rope crosses over each other in the bottom center about 6". Center the glass in the opening first. then using both sides of the rope pull towards you and up about 30 degrees from horizontal. It should open the rubber up enough to slip over the metal lip. Once you have it started, slow and steady wins. I went part way left then part way right and back again until done. The person on the inside may have to push the glass towards you. It is freaky feeling but works.

I have installed a couple back windows and windshields on these trucks by myself so it can be done solo but a helper is nice. I used the rope method on them. I needed to replace both front and rear glass on a '69 Beetle on a car for my daughter and something I saw on several sites for installing the glass is to use insulated stranded electrical wire and silicone spray. I just replaced them Saturday solo and can tell you using wire instead of rope was a 100% better than using rope. Rope has a tendency to stick/grab the rubber where the insulated wire did not and being smaller in diameter it helped set the window on the pinch weld easier. I will not use the rope again. I am not sure but it was either 16 or 14 ga wire that I used.

Good luck.
