While many Super Duties have the dreaded relay instrument cluster issue that shuts down radio and gauges etc my issue is limited to power windows and mirrors.
I just want to run a fresh wire to the window switch to a 12v source and avoid all the gremlins causing issues. I’ve tested the window motor and they work fine.
So - how do the experts think I can do this in the simplest way? I assume a wire from switch to the fuse block with an add-a- fuse? What am I missing?
help.
First test fuse 65 30A. If you have power here then the issue is not power but the driver side switch unit (master window adjust switch) this does alot. If no power to fuse 65 than you can apply an ignition-on power source with a add-on-fuse adaptor.
I wouldnt use an existing ignition-on power supply directly though due to the 30A circuit it would have to power. I would use an existing ignition power supply to signal a relay and use the direct battery line (fused of course) to add power to fuse 65.
Thanks, tunafish. helpful.
I’m certain the window motors both work. And the switches are “good” as when I messed with hot wiring the motor initially, and I reinserted key/ign on, they worked with switches one time perfectly, but as soon as I turned key to engine on it all went dead again. Square 1
So my desire is actually to circumvent every possible failure point and just run fresh wire to an always hot spot via an “add a fuse” and to the switch. Yes of course I’ll add a big in line fuse.
Thoughts?
There is only one power wire to the driver side switches. It is the light blue/black wire 12v positive.. It goes thru this switch and powers the other switches.. Also the solid black wire is the ground to the switches. You can get a good ground wire to eliminate a grounding issue.
