What is the corrrect outside mirror for a 1952 F1?
I have seen, the goose neck, the straight arm with a round mirror and the straight arm with a rectangular mirror.
Can anyone help out on this.
I am looking for a right and left side mirror. Understand that originally they had only the "driver's side" mirrors.
My truck is a panel, and that may make a difference, but it had straight arms and round mirrors on both sides. I'm running (modern) rectangular mirrors at the moment just because I can see better with them. One of my original arms broke, and I purchased replacement arms and round mirror heads meant for a military type ****** Jeep. I was happy with the match. I had to do just a little of modification so the arms would work with my door mounted holders. I stayed with the bigger modern mirror heads, however. I could post pics if that would help. Abe is our mirror guy, and he put me on to the mirrors I ended up using.
Panel trucks had shorter 9inch arms which I prefer on the f-1 truck snd that’s what I’m using. But the correct one is the round head straight arm. Length is … 13 “? In either 51 or 52 the mirror head increased in diameter to I think 6”. The reproduction ones use the 5”. Correct me if I’m wrong.
Also the reproductions use all black where’s as the factory ones had a cadmium plated internal extension not painted. I’ll try to find pictures. Shorter 9” mirrors on my truck Factory correct truck mirrors
Thanks,
On the red truck it looks as if everything is black with exception of the sliding telescoping piece is cadmium plated. Or was the entire arm, mirror and mounted plated.
Please advise, appreciate the input from you.
My ****** telescoping arms and round mirror heads were painted Army green. The arms are set up at about 9.5 inches, which is close to stock for a panel. My original arms were not telescoping. The CG had them painted gray, but I think they were black from the factory.
I'm happy with the look and quality of the Jeep arms:

Yes that is pretty much the way they should be. I see you're from CT? That picture was taken at Chucks Trucks in Hamden. He knows these trucks in extreme detail. If you get the part number of the mirror you should be able to google image it. I think a NOS pair sold recently on Ebay, they had quite good pictures I should have screen shot them for reference. If you dont have a Parts and Chassis Catalogue you should get yourself one.
