So noticed this weekend that one of the doors needs replaced. I guess this is frame and door, can't just replace the door. type of latches found this sticker on the inside Challenger door
I've never taken a cargo door apart. So I don't know what's inside it. If it's just plywood I would think that it could be repaired. Rigid foam wouldn't go soft, so it probably isn't that.
Steve, So I assume to take the old one off, there are some screws on the side of the frame, Then break the seal around the outside and discard.
Can the locks be moved over to a new door?
I also have a email to Challenger about the door, I asked the warranty dept. to have a look, I already know the answer but I anticipate and quote from them for a new door.
You kind of have to play it by ear. The door and frame were probably installed as one piece. The door is most likely just outer and inner layer with a foam core. Construction is pretty lame. Your camper manufacturer will have a "build" list of everything on your camper and should be able to tell you the model number of that door and who manufactured it. That would be the simplest route to go. You can get the locks out, but as I recall it is a pain. I took a few apart when the locks stopped working to repair the locks. The difficulty may come if the original manufacturer has been bought out.
I know folks are less comfortable doing this, but I always call rather than email. A number of manufacturers have become much more conscious of the need to maintain good customer relationships and surprising as it sounds till actually try to help. I am now mostly retired although I am still "consulting on one small dealership lot when they get stuck on something.
