I just got a set of pneumatic train horns. Would like to undermount an air tank and a compressor. I have never done this, so I could use all the help and expertise available.
still need to get the compressor and tank. Any suggestions on what is best for a 04 F250?
when I did mine I made 2 brackets (one for each leg of the air tank) and bolted it through the frame (went to autozone and got the smallest set of lug nuts and studs I could) just in front of the rear tire on the pass side, the compressors are mounted to their own mounts also bolted to the frame under the cab on the pass side, horns are mounted to a piece of aluminum cut and bent to mount to the runningboard bolts on the drivers side under the cab. wiring is run through existing grommets and power is run down from the pass battery to a disconnect and fuse block both also frame mounted. Air intake is routed in the cab vents so air into the compressors are "clean and dry".
bit of advice, don't bother with a "remote air source" kit (The ones that put an air coupler in the bed or bumper), They have no flow, even when upped from the provided 1/4in lines to 1/2in lines, just put a coupler directly to the tank and get a long hose.
