Rear Quarter Windows Leaking

Both my rear windows are leaking from front top. I have seen the correct way to fix issue, taking paneling out and possibly window. Well i just dont have the will power for that. So i got some butyl chalk to try out.

Well i can say this stuff is messy if dont know what you are doing (which i didnt). But after some trial and error got a pretty good system going. (I only did one side that was leaking the worst, so if i could get some photos if anyone wants when i do the other side.)

First you will need lots of rag towels and lighter fluid. I filled the top side valley of the glass and down about two inches with the butyl (used about 3/4 of the tube). Next i took my pinky (gloves) and ran along the valley to try to seat the butyl. Now before you take your finger from valley have a towel right there cause this stuff strings out like the cheese on a pizza when you take a peice. This will get everywhere so stopping it before it strings will help.

Now i slowly remove the excess butyl running a towel thru the valley but this time have lighter fluid on the towel. Again making sure at lift that i have another towel to caught the strings. I lighter fluid makes easy work out of this stuff, without it the mess just seem to get worst. Then just keep cleaning up until it looks good, dont be shy with the lighter fluid.

The side i did that has been leaking (has mold in the headliner) is now dry and took me bout an hour since i didn't know what i was doing. The other side i am sure i can pound out in about thirty minutes.

You converted it to a fixed window, correct? I have a carwash I go to weekly and the high pressure jets force some water in through the top part of the window. I've not seen it leak with rain. I think the carwash would get these guys when they were new.

So how did you get it to stick?

Yes its a window that doesn't open.. And this product sticks to everything and it doesn't really dry just sits there in a goop.. Its not bad but like post could be messy..

My issue is i could run a hose or rain up top and it would leak and fill the cup holders for the third row.. I tested with rain and hose and the one side i did, there was no moisture or water intrusion which was easily reproduce before.. I cant fit thru a car wash though so cant comment on that..

Here is a video with the driver side still leaking and the passenger side not leaking but you can see the mold marks..

Starting

Cleaning with lighter fluid

After removing excess and much cleaning.. Not hard but if you have excess it will just get all over so you have to keep removing/cleaning.. And yes it rained but waited till i was pretty much done.
