Paint Shop Near DFW
Good day:
I am looking for a paint shop / auto painter around the DFW area. If owned/run/executed by a FTE member so much the better.
The Short of It:
1. NOT looking for base coat / clear coat, just a single pigment layer
2. Single color, matched to existing color or as close as reasonable
3. Reasonable cost.& quality (Truck is not a show truck and a show truck paint job would be wasted on it.)
Hobbyists and guys who do things on the side are OK if they get a thumbs-up from a FTE member.
Against my better judgement and under pressure from both my son and my father, we are going to get our new-to-us 1980 Ford F-150 painted. The one in my signature and avatar. Same color.
My dad is in his 80s and when he was young, he'd buy up autos, fix up the body a bit, prep them for paint and then have his cousin shoot them. He'd drive half and flip half of them. He did it for fun and the flipping kept his fun hobby from costing him. I am no stranger to preparing an auto for paint my own self, but he has decades of experience with it and will visit us to help prepare for paint.
I didn't take too much convincing. My son has jumped into working on the truck with both feet and this is an opportunity to show him how to prep a vehicle for paint.
Thank you for any pointers.
