I was just wondering if people would share some insight as to how they fixed the rust problem on their tailgate. I have to fix mine and it's rusted from one end to the other
you can just cover it but the rust is still there. the bad thing about tailgate rust is that the rust gets inside and short of cutting it apart you are never going to get all the rust. new ones arent that expensive.
Bronco tailgates are prob higher than pickup - also a PIA to change guts (window, gears etc)
If it is gone past surface rust, maybe junkyard. Several year mods are the same - and if your luck is better than mine, the inards would work from the donor
buy a new one, you will never get a good fix from a repair kit. aftermarekt ones can be had for fairly cheap, but they are just that cheap, and dont always line up good,
a good body shop is used to doing this kind of thing, and will usually take the time to work new drain holes and good prep on the inside
