1979 F150 - Project Thread
Been parked for around 10-12 years after the transmission ‘went out’. Went to clear out some trees that had grown around it but hope to get it towed this week. My trailer isn’t big enough so need to hire someone.

You do not even have to push on the brake pedal to take the trans/lever to put the trans in any gear. Just pull the shift lever up towards you/the steering wheel just a bit and put it in N. Now you will need BRAKES and with it not running, steering and braking is going to be a real chore. Like almost non existent. Since it is on a steep hill (if it will roll at all), setting for that long the brakes maybe be froze up? Get the tires aired up best you can, jack the truck up one tire at a time and get them aired up and out of the ground.
But if it will roll you can use the tree behind it (and a cable attached to the back bumper and then around the tree and then to a vehicle next to it) as a way to do a controlled roll, so to speak. Make sense? Since you are going to hire someone I would get a wrecker with a roll back and have them back with up to it and drag it up on the deck. Tires flat, brakes froze will not matter to them or that winch.
Just make sure (watch) they do not hook the J hooks/tow cable to any thing like steering drag link, trac bar or the front frame horns. Those are the part sticking out the front of the truck where the front bumper bolts on. Those bend fairly easy and getting bent can make for the bumper to go back on more work for you.
I also just noticed that your heater-a/c environmental control panel has a place/switch on the right side that says "rear glass". So FYI that control panel is NOT OEM for a pick up truck, but IS for a 78/79 Bronco. So for sure someone has had the dash bezel off (you can see the big flat washer added where the screw hole was broke out) and swapped in that control panel.
