I picked up this truck to swap my 64’ cab onto with a flatbed. I am looking to start ordering some parts to freshen up the frame. I know the cab that came with the frame is not the original. Im looking to get a year and any other info I can get off it. Sucks the frame stamp on on top of the passenger side rail was grinded partially. From what i can understand the drive train was manufactured in 77 and the frame is a 79?Thanks for your time! Top passenger frame rail behind front suspension mounts Side of passenger frame roughly under door Another angle of side passenger frame under door Engine valve cover sticker Engine block stamp Bell housing
Did you look in the OTHER spot on the frame? Back under the seat rail on the passenger side. 4WD is red box and I believe in your 1st pic. Did you get a paper title with it?
Put a piece of paper on the frame and take an ol #2 pencil and file some of the lead and then drag is back and forth with your finger.
Truck series code F14...77-'79 4 wheel drive pickup (F150)[NOTE 1] For some reason, Ford neglected to include the '76 F150 4x4 from this listing in the MPC. However, the first three digits of a 1976 F150 4WD are 'F14', just like the '77-'79 F150 4x4s.
Engine- B is '73-'79 6 300 1-bbl. 4.9 Litre
Assembly plant- E is Manwah NJ.
Next E is 1st part of consecutive unit #
Yes my partial stamp is located in the red box in that image. I will check at the other locations when I get a chance after work tomorrow. As of now after doing some more web surfing today I want to say it is a 1979 F-150 4x4 400 4spd with quad shocks. I have a title and cab but the previous owner told me that the cab is not original to the chassis (title matches cab not chassis). Trusting the valve cover sticker the motor is a 6.6L (400) so it is very well possible that if the frame stamps don't match that it could be a swapped motor. Once again thank you a ton for the responses!

Those are not stampings in the engine block they are casting numbers. D7TE-A would be first casting, minor revisions would result in the addition of the 2 then the B. From my understanding anyway. There should be more casting numbers that can pin point day of the year and shift block was poured. If I found a truck with D9 on the frame and the D7TE-2-B would assume it was a 79, but we all know what assume starts with. Depending on where you are, title needs to match frame instead of cab.
