Is there a setting (Forscan?) that allows you to select through the music files on a USB stick while the truck is moving? Mine won't let me if moving, but will if stopped.

There is a Forscan setting that makes the truck think it is in American Samoa, the result being that you can enter addresses while moving, browse phone numbers and browse the music on the USB. The speed limit shown on the dash takes on the European appearance, a number in a red circle, and some of the english takes on British spelling, not really noticeable. The one thing you do lose is the 911 assist function that call for help using your cell phone in an accident, as there is no 911 service in American Samoa.

You can find the settings under the title Nav in Motion I think.

 

Thanks! I don't have factory navigation, just using Android Auto for that. I wonder if that'll be affected by the change to American Samoa.

 

I tried this just for you on the way home from a meeting, in the dark, while moving.
Note: My music is stored on a Verbatim USB stick. SYNC was already set to play from media.

I pushed the volume **** to turn on audio, SYNC 3 began playing the last track I had selected 2 days ago.
I pushed the voice command button on the steering wheel and said "Play John Denver"
SYNC responded "Playing artist John Denver" and started playing the first track of the John Denver playlist
I tapped the left side of the screen which says "Verbatim, John Denver, Country Roads"
The screen changes to the one that displays the album cover picture. In this screen, upper right corner is the "Browse" button.
Pressing the "browse" button brings up a list of all John Denver titles, and I manually selected a different track, which SYNC played. (Didn't try voice command, might work)

In the upper left corner of this "playlist" screen is a back arrow. I didn't try it but I'm pretty sure this will take you up a level to display all artists or albums. In any case with what I gave you above, if you know what artist you want you can ask for it, then select from the playlist as above. All while moving.

I'll play with it some more in the daytime, when it's not raining and on a straight road.

Version 3.4. I made the change in Forscan to the "navigation in motion" setting, and will test it out this afternoon.

ZooDad, thanks a bunch for all your posts in the Forscan threads. I read through the 90 page thread to learn how to use Forscan. Very very helpful.

 

Update: it worked. I can select files/folders from USB while in motion. The "nav in motion" (American Samoa) setting did change the time zone on the radio, but easy enough to correct it.
