I have the old part, I always ask for it, your not to late. There is a triangular hole blown into the screen outside that it look ok to me but that does not say much.

Did you take the screen off and look inside (depressing the plunger) to see if there was debris inside holding it open as @IHateCommieCars suggested? Spraying through the side holes while depressing the plunger usually clears some debris.
