The thunderbird has shaft mounted rockers on it and is making a lifter tick, upon closer investigation the rocker arm on the foremost driver's side cylinder has a significant of lateral play, and appears to be the culprit.

The other rockers appear fine. However the shop manual is of little help, and offers no course of adjustment. I'm assuming the washer spring has lost it's temper, but I'm not sure and wanted to ask more experienced hands what needs to be done.
