I recommend keeping the stock muffler and tail section when other parts fall off, nice quiet and drone free. Same goes with 6.7 fords. I watched lots of folks buy and aftermarket exhaust and fighting drone.

After 13 if inremember right they lost the muffler, i reccomend a donaldson 40”. It has a chamber in the middle that eliminates drone.
the aisin is great in stock form but defuels hard between shifts.
I dont know if it's changed in the last few years since i was well studied on them, but the problem is mainly u cant get a decent tune for them to handle extra power and speed things up.

the 68rfe can handle alot with just a tune. And your average trans builder can beef it up pretty much to what a 48re will take.

like any common rail keep fuel clean and dry.

since mine was a pre 13 i added a water sep and 2 mic filter on frame rail and never ran into issues i did with water like i did on my 5.9cr.

i recommend baldwin fuel filters in the canister.

damn yall got me missing the he351ve and that stout *** exhaust brake now. I could almost come to a stop empty with it Surprised i didn't get rear ended lol

I loved and hated the G 56, My 2007 was a little over 500 to the ground and after going through a few clutches and finding one that I liked That could hold the power, the trans started making funny noises/vibrating under load and would get pretty hot towing 25-30k behind me.

i overfilled it which supposedly helped.
Some folks would experiment with heavier oils like hydraulic fluid etc

Congrats on the New Truck. Man it sure is Bee You Tee Full. Good friend of mine has a 19 CC. Its way ahead of the ole 20+ yr old SD.

Have safe travels with your daughter. Those Mega cabs are huge inside. If you ride in the back by yourself you will get lonely. LOL

Thanks it really is a completely different experience than the 99.
I'm not really brand loyal when it comes to diesel trucks, my 1st was a ve pumped 12valve, followed by obs cc long bed 7.3, 06 duramax, ccsb 7.3, and the current 99. When I stated looking I looked at 6.7 powerstroke and some lml duramaxes this 2011 Ram showed up 40k mile 1 owner clean carfax dealer maintained I moved on it.

"Was the Aisin ever a consideration for you or was it just not in the cards" only if I found a truck with it, my brother's 5500 has it, it's a stout unit.
adding a muffler up stream and keeping the stock muffler and tail piece. I like how quiet it is and want to keep it that way.

I enjoy the layout of the history. I feel the exact same way. The 7.3 has really only been because it is a reliable and affordable platform. I know how to fix it and have owned many, but a former life cowboying and raising cattle on ranches across the west has also put me in the seat of other diesels and I have also owned many different ones myself. They are ALL good and also bad in their own way. My list starts with the 6.5 GM Detroit (horrible), 1997 ram 3500, OBS 7.3 F350 ECLB, 2003 Duramax, OBS 7.3, another Duramax, 96 OBS F-350, 2003 RAM 2500 5.9, 97 F350 CCLB Dually, 96 OBS CCLB 4x4, '99 SD ECLB 4x4, and now my current 2000 CCLB Dually 2wd. My ranch boss trucks have been newer Duramaxes, Cummins, and Fords.....so 6.6, 6.7 Ford, and 6.7 Cummins. All good in their own way. I will say the absolute pulling beast out of those 3 was the 6.7 Ford, but that would be my last choice if it were my personal truck.

My wife and I were talking about the color of your truck on the way home from town today. Very beautiful color and I bet it is amazing in person.

I look forward to chatting with you about your new to you RAM when you come to the north ATL area soon.

Raceme ultra, monitor tunes and trans tunes in one platform. With ability for custom tunes to be loaded via SD card. Going to head up to one of the local ski areas later today, anxious to see how it runs.

Let us know. I am curious to hear the report. My guess is there will be no disappointment.

Mine would break the stock tires loose at 30-40 mph. I figure your face going to be sore

Yes, and didn't make a lot of noise about it lol. There seemed to be a much higher failure rate on the RAM application compared to the Fords. Some guys' trucks only made it 10-20k before the fuel system was totally ruined. On the other hand I know a guy with over 600k on his 2012 Ford and claims his fuel system is all original.

I think most people would be happier with the 68RFE anyway. If it's a work truck pulling a heavy trailer all the time the Aisin would be the one to get, but as a driving around truck it will not be as quick or responsive or smooth.

Responsive, quick and comfortable.
a simple 75hp tune and it's ALMOST as much fun as the 99 with 238/80's, it's too easy.
