Need Help Tracking Down Details

Just got back from a cross country (Canada) road trip. Made a stop in Saskatchewan at a road side cafe and met the lovely lady proprietor. She had a stripped out truck cab outside but didn’t know the make or year. But there was a serial code plate on the firewall. I on this site I found that the paint code matched a ‘47 Ford parts catalog. Can anyone help confirm that for me? Here’s a photo of the plate and a photo of Leta, the cafe owner. Thanks.

That looks like a nice cab that's comfortably rusting in peace as beautiful yard art. Props to Leta.

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by the paint code matching a 47 Ford parts catalog, though? I can say that by the serial number on the bottom line, it looks to be a 46 Ford cab.

Thanks for the quick response. Do you know how to de-cipher the codes?

I noticed in another posting you gave someone a complete breakdown of all the codes on the plate - engine, paint, trim, make/model/year. Any chance you can do the same for mine.
It’d be really appreciated by Leta. Her son bought the cab at an auction because the name of the station was on the door so it musta belonged to the cafe when it was a Texaco station.

I got the following information from my Ford of Canada manuals.
6B-28 6=1946 B=3 1/16" bore with 3 speed truck transmission 28=engine serial number
Trim (I couldn't find)
Paint M-1800-B = Yosemite Green
Code 20246H7312 202=model number 46=year H=Home Office Plant 7312=vehicle serial number

I hope this helps.

Super. Thanks Joe!
So it is a Ford not a Merc?
Any idea where Home Office Plant was?

Home Office, Windsor, Ontario.
The only real difference between Ford and Mercury trucks was trim and badging. Mechanically, they are identical. As time went on, especially from 1951 on, the differences became less and less, until it was just the letters on the tailgate and a couple of badges.

Yes, it's a Ford cab. Ford model numbers were in the 200 series while Mercurys used the 400 series.
Home Office was Windsor Ontario.

Thanks.
Kind of a neat coincidence that the truck was built in town we live in. No Ford assembly plants here anymore. Just a couple of engine plants.
