Hi guys,

I recently rebuilt my 5r55e on my 2011 2.3 Ranger and it drives pretty good now until 5th gear. Once I get inbetween 35-50mph I get the O/D light flashing. Took it to a trans shop and he didn't want to touch it but said it had a P0735 code, which would be an incorrect 5th gear ratio.

It seems like this is often paired with a p0732 code, which would mean it's an overdrive issue. As far as I know, I only have a p0735 and I still have 2nd gear which (I think) means my OD is working in 2nd at least. Furthermore when drive with overdrive off it doesn't start flashing so I think that means 2nd gear isn't triggering any codes, just 5th.

Without knowing any better I want to say the problem is in the valve body. I'm going to pull the valve body and multimeter test the solenoids and replace the separator plate and put even newer gaskets on. I originally reused my bonded separator plate by scraping off the gaskets and I know I gouged it as I was playing fast and loose. Not sure if that would cause this issue but I reckon it doesn't hurt to replace it anyways. I understand it might also be pump/pressure issue too, don't currently have anything to test pressure but I suppose it wouldn't hurt to buy one.

Is there anything else I should be looking it without taking the trans back out? What could cause p0735 without triggering anything else?
