Just want to say thanks in advance for all the help this forum has provided. I have used this forum as a resource for years and have always found the answer to any issue by simply searching old threads. The issue I have now I wasn't able to solve, so, first post seeking help.
I have a 1995 F-150 5.0 with the m5od transmission. Last weekend I pulled off the top cover to replace the gasket (had a few drops under the truck and knew I had never replaced the gasket. Did the freeze plugs when I first got it.)
I took the top cover off with the shifter in neutral and replaced the gaskets and put it back on. Also added sound deadening throughout the truck while I was in there. After I finished the sound deadening and got the truck all back together I hopped in to go for my test drive and the truck will not move.
I can shift through all of the gears, no excessive movement, like the shifter hitting the radio. Not hard to get into any of the gears either, feels just like before. When I go to release the clutch theres just no engagement, feels like its in gear but truck just sits there. Clutch pedal feels the same as before, good tension on it with a little travel at the top.
Sorry for the long post, but any help would be greatly appreciated.
Also, if it is four wheel drive... make sure you didnt knock the transfer case into neutral.
Pretty embarrassed to say thats exactly what I did... in my rush to test drive it, I threw it in neutral, not 2H. It got knocked out of 2H when I was taking the boot off to put the sound deadening on the floor.
