Steering Wheel Qs

So I believe the steering wheel on my truck is from a 7th gen. It sits a little high on the splines, the turn signal don't cancel, and the the horn doesn't work with the button. Found a local guy with a steering wheel that he says is off a 77' but it looks just like mine. Does this look like the wrong wheel or is my problem not the steering wheel?

I was under the impression that our trucks had a peg to cancel the signals.

Maybe that was a running change in '77? I'm pretty sure the '78 and '79 trucks got the wheel without the turn signal cancel. My '77 has the cancel tab on the steering wheel. I think mine is an earlier '77 truck.

Maybe that's a '78-'79 wheel he's got?

My '77 has the cancel pegs, but I took the arms off the third switch, got tired of replacing them. Use a LOUD signal flasher ... tic tok tic tok ... I don't see any cracks there.

The wheel pictured is 1980 & up. The metal ring with all the notches in it is for the steering lock. Steering lock wasn't used on trucks until 1980.

That wheel is from a 78 or 79. The turn signal switch has a pin that fits into that notch to cancel. The horn wiring is also different on 78 & 79's.

scottscott is correct. The 78-79 wheel does not have the notches.
