I have a 1992 F-150 4.9 with the R2 5 speed trans, had to replace the clutch slave and it had the clip style quick connect line, i replaced it with another clip style that looks the exact same and the line wont even go into the receiver end of the quick connect line after it being installed, the slave came with a white bushing which wasn't on my clutch line after i uninstalled it and a new o-ring, i put both of those on and tried to install it and it wont go in, then i tried removing the white plastic bushing and still the same, wont go in. Then i tried ordering another slave with the newer design (no clip, just metal fingers in the receiver) and tried installing my clutch line into that since i was told by my father that he heard a friend say that they were interchangeable and that the new design was supposed to work with my line with the plastic bushing added on to make it easier. Now the line is stuck into the newer receiver and wont come off even with the quick disconnect tool and the line wont go into the new slave with the clip that is now installed in the trans, im tired of messing with it and i need my truck back to get to work. Any advice is greatly appreciated since ive been stuck messing with it for a while now, both receivers and the line are colored black and are not brass, since i think that makes a difference in their fitment, i dont know. Any advice is helpful, Thanks
Post some pictures please. I replaced my clutch & slave on a 92 4.9 several years ago with the plastic clip, I don't remember any trouble other than bleeding Recently, I did the clutch/ slave on a 5.8 with the ZF (almost identical internal slave as the Mazda M5R2) and it had the new metal clip you speak of. I remember it was a little tough, but it went on.
