I have a 1998 Ford f150 with a 4.2 liter v6. I'm trying to test the fuel pressure. I've found the testing port on the fuel rail on the driver's side. It has a black cap on it. None of the attachment to my fuel pressure testing kit will fit the testing port on the fuel rail. They're all to big. I read in places what I'm referring to as a test port is called a schrader valve. I don't know. The clerk a NAPA said I needed a 1/16th NPT female to male adapter. I got loner tools from O/Reilly's, and Auto Zone. They didn't have an attachment that would fit. They were all to big as well. That's when someone suggested I need the adapter mentioned earlier. I can't find one that small anywhere. Hell this isn't a YUGO. It's a FORD. I'm pretty sure my fuel pump is going out, but I want to test it. What Am I doing wrong. Am I trying to use the wrong port or what.
Could someone at least tell me if I'm testing from the right port or if I should be looking for another testing valve. And if so its general location. Because I looked and if there is another one it is hidden really well.

Post a picture of it (not too close) so we can see the schrader valve you're talking about. Besides the fuel rail there are shrader valves for the low and high side for the AC system.
here are two pics a close up and a more distant one. The port/ schrader valve is on the driver's side. when you're looking at the distant photo the valve is under the center of the intake pipes. On the close up photo the port is right of center kinda.

Reason: more info needed.
thanks. I can't find any where else I could possible test fuel pressure. I still can't figure out why none of the fuel pressure kits I've tried will fit the valve. A real head scratcher. We have a place here called House of Hose. I'm going to go there today and see if they'll have what I need.

Reason: left an important word out.
So the adapter for my Actron CP7818 has a recess before the treads start. Yes it fits loose, until I press down and turn it clockwise until the threads grab to the schrade valve. The valve on my trucks fuel rail is the same size as a tire valve stem..
