Check your local regs, many places specify a roof mounted earning light for plow trucks. Just running the flashers may or may not be "legal".
i would also be leery of a third brake light mount. My buddies 18 Ram developed a leak there and stained his headliner pretty bad. Leverage from the mount and snow on the roof would seem to be a questionable combination.
Of course I haven't figured out what I am going to do having just realized as I was reading this thread that a magnetic mount isn't going to work on this new truck.... Switching my 8 foot Myer Lot Prow to the new truck tomorrow.
I have an 8' - 6" Fisher HD 2 - I only plow my 350 Foot Driveway and a couple of my elderly neighbors. Plow is about 10 years old but works just fine...

I did some googling after seeing your post and as far as I can tell, Indiana requires some kind of flashing light but doesn't specify that it has to be on top. It also seemed like that was if you were plowing on the road, which I will not be. Doing commercial lots, which is private property, I honestly think I would be exempt from running any light, although I would for safety/increased visibility.
For the third brake light mount, I was a little hesitant about the pressure it would put on as well. I would likely use that as a last resort if I found out I had to have something on top.
I only have a couple where it is a potential issue. The town Marshall has stopped my buddy for plowing in town without his light on. I only have one account down there and it is in the industrial park. The one that concerns me is right off Hwy 550 just over a crest in the road and I have to be in the highway a couple times to get the approach opened. I really want something visible there more than I am ever going to get hassled for it. I would really prefer something I can remove... I might try removing the third brake light, fastening (gluing?) a steel plate to the roof from underneath and seeing if a magnet will hold through the alum roof panel.

That would be interesting to see if the plate would hold under the aluminum. If you try it, report back and let me know!
I've run the Buyers third brake light mount for two years on my 450. No leaks, no issues. the foam that comes with the kit is really tight against the truck. I took it off and put it on my 350 and no marks or anything on the roof after running it for that long.
Acari makes an aluminum version that I've used on several trucks. It comes in raw, but can be painted to match.
Once everything is mounted, there is no chance of weakening magnets letting go at 80 mph and blowing the light off.
All wires are inside, and run through the interior of the roof.
Looks great, I chose not to bolt down…. I take it off when not plowing. I have had magnet Whalen light up there for 6 years, never fell off except when I went thur car wash after a storm.
i have a 8’2” boss v plow with wings, been using boss for 6 years… just replaced truck with a 2022 F350, chose to stay with boss again. I put the snow deflector on this one, every time I would plow powder snow…. Snow coming up over the plow… I would say got to put a snow deflector on….

Magnets on an aluminum roof?
You’re results may now be 6 seconds instead of 6 years.
Actually, the Acari doesn’t bolt down. It mounts on top with foam pads using the roof light opening to secure by inserting a padded tongue to tighten. Easily removed.
Our area is pretty much everything Douglas Dynamics.

This is my plow rig, 2017 F150 XLT loaded, 6-speed with 5.0L Coyote, 1,910lbs ( off the top of my head ) payload with RoadMaster Active Suspension upgrade. 7.6' Western Enforcer stainless V-Plow with the LED light upgrade, curb guards and the "Fish-stick". Haven't had to use the plow yet, very mild winter so far in North-East Pennsylvania.
I'm using the Acari drill free mount to mount my STL ( Speed Tech Lights ) K-Force STL mini light bar. I like the Acari, I was skeptical at first, and still think they're a little over priced, but it's a fairly straightforward install and SUPER clean as far as looks go, it looks great, no wires showing etc. I was also worried about it leaking, but IF YOU'RE DILIGENT and make sure it's installed correctly, you're really shouldn't worry about it leaking, because the foam pieces provide a very tight seal once the mount is screwed down properly. We did have to alter the actually bracket pieces that go inside the cab and hold the mount to the cab, as they were too long and would not allow us to get the mount in all the way, thus leaving a gap in the foam pieces. Once we got that sorted out, the rest was a breeze and it turned out great.
Why I went with the Acari was due to the cost of a BackRack, it was going to be $500 to get the rack and the mounting hardware, then I'd still have the issue with wiring and getting it into the cab. I think anyone would be pleased with the Acari.
Fisher and Western are also the way to go in my opinion, though I'm a little biased since Fisher comes from Maine, my home state!
For this year, i went with a 8'6" Western Pro Plus with led lights, 36" markers, deflector, Winter curb guards and 700# ballast.
weighed in at 8700 full of fuel, ready to push snow...
As far as flashy light bars, i Got an Xprite 21" light bar ($99 from amazon) mounted on a backrack center bracket. Cheap/bright and has 16 different flash modes. Easy peasy. I went all amber as i read anything other was illegal here in New York...
