Snow Plow Selection

Snow Plow Selection
Hey, I started a landscaping business the year and will most likely snow plow this winter here in Indiana (assuming we have a winter with snow this year). Anyway, I own a 2006 F350 King Ranch Dually and was wondering what type of snow plow I should get and if I have to change any springs, etc. I'm not sure what type of accounts I'll get (i.e., residential, neighborhoods, business, etc.). Any advise would be appreciated.

There was just another snow plow thread these past few days.
My advice would be go to your local dealer and purchase what they have and get the biggest plow they will put on your truck. Biggest I mean 8' straight blade or 9'2" vee. If you can afford a Vee - that's the way to go.
As for brand - thats another chevy vs ford vs dodge, that's why I just say go to your closest dealer.
Support your local dealer.

Where are you located Scott. I would recommend which ever plow has the best service in your area, have to get parts if it breaks in the middle of a storm. Me and my dad run Western 8.5 v blades w/ wings and love them. With a dually you are going to want a wide plow to clear the width of your rear tires with the plow on a angle. Type of accounts are up to you. I do only commercials and that's what I like. I think your truck is too big to do residentals unless they are long drives without a lot of turning around. Check out www.plowsite.com, a lot of info on there. Kinda dead this time of year until October/ November but you can search the forums for older threads that will give a lot of info on your questions. Good luck and remember you have to make enough for it to be worth your while, and stock up on sleep now cause you are gonna need it when the snow flys. Also if we get another crappy winter like the last one, you still have to make payments on that new equipment Also remember that it takes a while to get good accounts so it may take a couple winters and it's hard to get into someplaces you just have to show them you do a quality job and are reliable.
