Looking at buying a snow plow. What size plow are you guys running?
I’m asking because I have the chance at buying a one year old dealer demo 8’6” v-blade for $6,000. It’s a Snoway, with plow shoes, rubber flap, and wireless controller. It also has halogen lights.
My other option is buying a brand new 9’6” v-blade with the same options as above for around $7,500. The new one would have LED lights.
Install is the same for either one. Warranty is the same as well since it’s considered a demo.
Just don’t know if the extra foot and LED’s are worth the extra $1500.
Will be used for commercial plowing, business parking lots, all paved. Snoway is the brand I’m going with so not interested in others. Dealer is local to me plus the downforce they have is what I want. Thanks for any input.

Truck will be ‘22 F-350 CCSB 7.3 gas
With the gas trucks u can run the 8.5 or 9.5(with ballast in the bed) with the diesel truck 8.5 ft plow
Are you going to be subcontracting being paid by the minute, or flat rate
Flat rate go big and usually being paid by the minute/hour is based off plow size.
Other factors to consider is your wheelbase, on a superduty I put a minimum of 9 on a SRW, 9'6 on a dually.
Paid by the hour, 1 hour minimum, but all locations would take longer than 1 hour anyways. I considered putting wings on the 8’6” but by that point I figured it’s be fairly close to the 9’6”.
I have a Boss 9'2" DXT. I would definitely go for LEDs if you have the opportunity they make a world of difference, but the choice is up to you. See if they will upgrade to the LEDs on the demo plow for the same price.
I run a fisher xv 8.6, would definitely upgrade to a 9.6 if I had the chance. I also have the led headlights on the plow and they are great, definitely worth the upgrade.
I've run the 2012 Western MVP Plus 8'6" on my 2006 F350 since I bought it new. Will be transferring everything over to the 2022 when I get it. Buyer of my 2006 was interested in the plow, but will be buying a 9'6" Western MVP3. I'd love to get an MVP3 but can't justify the cost when my MVP Plus is still in excellent condition.
Plow size and brand is very specific to what you will be doing and what dealers you have in your area. I only run Western and have loved them. My first was a pro plus 8 1/2’ and I upgraded to the wide out which goes from 8’ to 10’ with adjustable wings. With that being said I will never buy a straight blade again unless it’s on a truck being used by one of my guys.
So next question is, what are you guys using for strobe/safety lights since the roof isn't magnetic? I remember seeing some kind of bracket that mounts behind the third brake light, but can't find anything with the search. Must not be searching the right keywords.

I don't recall if it was specifically the Larson brand or another with the same function. BTBRV did a review on a mounting plate like this one a while back on YouTube.

This is what I was thinking of, thank you. I think I watched that video he did as well but couldn't remember where I saw it. I'm considering one of those to put a light on, or might use the Smart Flash kit from Snoway.
