No, clamping force is the only seal, have done many like this and none have leaked.

I went with the Riff Raff EBPV delete option. I also got new intake boots with the same order and it was less than $100 shipped. Pretty easy to do. 3 X 8mm 12pt bolts attach it to the exhaust housing. You do not need to remove the housing from the turbo. Just loosen the downpipe where it's clamped below and remove the band clamp where it attaches to the exhaust housing. Looks good and runs a bit better when towing.
