Ahhhh. The typewriter tick. Happens every oil change. Goes away with some mileage. Look up typewriter noise and you’ll have about 300 threads about the issue.
Oh, so that's the typewriter tick? I've seen lots of posts on it but thought it was a constant ticking sound.
I've got just over 10k miles. First oil change was at 500 miles, second was at 6500 miles. Been using Shell Rotella T6 and changed the filter both times.
From what I've read, Ford has classified the typewriter tick as normal and I don't think anyone has had a malfunction caused by it. i.e. nothing to worry about.
I just did my first oil change tonight with Rotella T6. I’ll see if I get the typewriter click tomorrow!
Well, I started up the truck this morning and crawled underneath, and sure enough there was a faint intermittent typewriter sound while it idled.. hopefully it’s nothing to worry about!
