First off this is a 97 f150 super cab base model 4.6 gas motor
I have the door panel off and motor unplugged.Iread the on https://www.aa1car.com/library/power_windows.htm. It says this " Use a fused jumper wire to bypass the switch and route power directly to the motor. If the window now moves, the problem is a bad switch. Replace the switch. If the motor does nothing, the problem is a bad motor. Replace the power window motor" Now my question is. The motor has two wires red &yellow. So is one side up & the other is down? Do I need a grd.? DoI put 12v to one side & see what happens then try 12v to the other side & see what happens? again what about ground? Motor reads 24 ohms red to yellow is that in spec? window is up & will not go down. I know I have a bad (GEM) Just want to check out the motor.
Thanks

You can cause the window to raise or lower based upon which wire you apply the 12 DC voltage---the other wire would be grounded. Reversing those connections will cause the window to move in the other direction. If the motor responds to voltage directly applied to the motor connections more than likely its the switch---that would be common.
I'm also assuming the other movable glass in this vehicle are working normally?
JWA thinks for the response. Yes it is the driver side door. The other window does not work along with both mirrors and the dash lights. The truck had a bad windshield water leak that has been replaced but it took out my (GEM). My Innova pro 5610 confirmed this. I have a Power Probe4 that I can test the motor with. Thanks very much about the ground I was not sure if the ground was through the mounting bolts or I needed to do like you said. Again thank you
