Engine ID?

Is there somewhere I can get a book or information on ID'ing Heads for my '92 E250 van. I have accel ign, flowmaster muffler on 2.5" exhaust,K&N air filter in a modified air box, shorty headers, and a superchips chip. I tow a trailer and want some low end (2500 to 3500) rpm power and torque. I've seen lots of heads for sale but don't know much about what config would be good for my needs. I read another post on this site that indicated my stock heads with a port job might deliver as much hp/trq as more expensive heads since my rpm range is so low. My problem is I had this engine replaced with an aftermarket engine and I am not sure which heads are on this one or if it's a '92 or newer or older engine. so if I can get some ID info it would help me get started on this project. I have about a $1000 dollar budget for the upgrade so I need to get some deals going.
