hey guys,
i have a customer that has a couple of 5.0 explorers(i think they range from 96-99) and he is looking for a little performance out of them. he was going to start with one and see how certain things do before moving on to the others. we had talked about puttin the ford motorsport e303 cam into it, because its the only one that is c.a.r.b. approved. if anyone has done this please let me know how it turned out,
thanks
mike
I am thinking of doing that right now with a set of 1.7 RR's. I have talked to alot of people about it and it has all been positive, you will have idle quality problems and your power band will be alot higher in the rpm scale. If you are going to the trouble of replacing the can I'd do the rockers and the springs as well, then raise your rev limiter to say 5500-5800.
It helps a lot. I also recommend doing the springs and r.r. when you do...
Mine is sitting in the garage along with the r.r.'s and springs for a winter install. I have put it off for a while because I was not in the mood to take the supercharger and everything else apart again until I had all the parts at once (had a few other additions to get )
I would recommend also adding a chip and having it programmed for the E303 also. It makes a tremendous difference with the tuning...
