Mass Air Flow Sensor
I have a 86 f250 and I don't want to have to replace the MAF sensor everytime it acts up just so it will idle down. I just unplugged the sensor and the truck runs better now but will there be any repercussions if I leave it like that.

No it is a 86, it was the first year ford made electronic fuel injected engines. But it was always idling at around 800 rpm instead of like 650 or 700 so I just unplugged the mafs and it idled down to the right rpm.

A first year EFI truck did not have MAF, so if yours does it has been converted. Either way unplugging it is not a good thing to do, something is giving the computer bad info and you need to figure out what that is... which is where pulling codes come in. Prime suspect is a bad TPS but there could be other causes too.
