Half way through reading this I was thinking to myself...this is a joke, right. I recently rebuilt noticed the u-joints in my front drive shaft...the ones closest to the axle...looked iffy so I pulled it for new u-joints. Upon further inspection I noticed that double cardon joint on the other end of the shaft also needed attention, so I tore into it too...boy was that a project from hell. Upon my search for replacement parts I discovered there were two versions of that double cardon joints in which one of them being more forgiving than the other...it develops more slop in that center pivot bearing...luckily I have that one. The funny thing is that a little over a year ago I was coming back from the Rockport, Texas area and had forgotten to unlock my front hubs also. When I was around Victoria, Texas I noticed the truck had a different vibration to it..nothing bad, just different. So as I drove on I thought to myself...I wonder if I forgot to unlock the front hubs. I pulled over directly to check and sure enough they were locked.
