Hey there, hopefully someone can help uns here.
We did an engine oil and filter (normal Purolator Filter) change on our 92‘ E350 7.3 IDI and are a bit confused. Our workshop manual states a filling quantity of 8,5 l of oil. So far, 10,5 l are already in and the dipstick shows like 1cm of oil. From that, another 2 litres would still fit in.
We can’t figure out if the dipstick is an original part. It’s 43,3 inch from tip to handle.
Does someone know how long the original dipstick is and what would be the right amount of engine oil for that car?
We are not native english speakers and sometimes the technical/car stuff is difficult to understand for us, so we apologize in advance.
I can't help with the dipstick length as mine is broke off down in the tube. But I can tell you that my 93 E350 dipstick is steel cable at the handle, and the last 18 inches or so is flat steel. 10 US Quarts is full (9.5 ltr?) 11 if using the powerstroke filter. So it sounds like your dipstick might be a little shorter than it's supposed to be. I hope this helps.
